WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN OUR HAND'S-ON BOAT DETAIL TRAINING CLASS

Our boat detailing class will teach you:
  • How to prepare a boat for buffing and waxing.
  • How to assess the level of oxidation in gel coat in order to give quotes.
  • How to choose the best products for the job and how to use them with your buffer based on the level of oxidation.
  • Understand the difference between compound, wax, polish and ceramic coatings and when to use each.
  • How to use different buffers and polishers for different applications and learn which buffing pads to use.
  • How to approach the job, whether you're doing the work on your own or with your crew.
  • When to say no to a job!
  • How to troubleshoot common problems that come up while working on a boat.
When you're finished with this class, you'll be able to:
  • Confidently talk to customers about your detailing services and be able to answer their questions.
  • Train new hires on your own crew how to detail boats properly.
  • Set prices for your services that are competitive in your local market.
  • Practice what you've learned to improve your skills, knowing you can contact us anytime with questions. You are not alone in this venture!

And for you all of you auto detailers out there... Clear coat and gel coat are two very different animals! You already have a head start in the detailing world because you understand oxidation, paint correction and customer expectations, but working with gel coat, as well as the tools, techniques and products you'll use, is very different than working with clear coat. This is a great course to help you transition from autos to boats.
